Adorable Christmas Suspenders Now Available

Pretty Baby Accessories has recently launched a line of trendy suspenders for boys and girls. What better theme to add to our growing catalog than a holiday collection. The adorable Christmas suspenders can be purchase solo, but will also be available as two piece set with your choice of matching bow tie , neck tie, or hair pretty.

Some of the Christmas patterns avaialable are the Candy Cane, the stripes and dots, the large polka dot, the geometric (which can be used even after the holidays!), and the gingerbread man! As always, we are able to customize our accessories for any outfit. If you don't find a perfect match in our fabric collection, please contact us with your colorrequirements or a photo of your child's Christmas outfit. We will be happy to create something special just for him or her!

Trendy Suspenders For Boys and Girls

Suspenders, also called braces, were once thought to be worn strictly by "nerds" or "geeks" to hold up their pants. Here at Pretty Baby Accessories, we see it differently! We think with the right colors and patterns and the perfect outfit, the once outcasted fashion can be trendy and fun.

We have added a variety of Suspenders for boys to our catalog and will continue to expand this collection over 2012 with Suspenders for girls. You will see designs in solid colors, funky patterns, traditional patterns, as well as some super cool animal print! As always, we are open to suggestions and custom designs, simply contact us to create a special pair for your guy or gal.

More recently we are beginning to see Trendy Celebrity tykes such as Mason, son of Kourtney Kardashian & Levi, son of Matthew McConaughey sporting the new fad and even on child models and magazine spreads.

This new style has been seen worn on boys Solo or accompanied by a matching bow tie or neck tie. We are also starting to see them on girls to accessorize a denim skirt, to add a little something to a pageant outfit, and sometimes accompanied by a matching hair pretty!

I just love that old fads come full circle and mesh with the new styles forming a new hip trend with a classic feel. Check out this lil' rocker dude sporting one of our suspender sets! Way to be a trendsetter dude!

Esty Kids Team Interview- Cambria Laine

Since beginning my venture in joining the world of children's boutiques I've developed an affinity to "window shop" for my future children! There are many talented artisans out there and I am on a mission to find them! With that being said, I have definitely found the shoe maker for my future daughters, nieces, god daughters and grand daughters (yes, my baby fever is on over drive lately!).

Cambria Laine, who also happens to be an Etsy Kids Team member, is a self taught seamstress (GO-GIRL!) with early guidance from her mother. Her "Star Product" in my eyes are her fabulous Leather Soft Soled Shoes for girls. The shoes currently come in sizes 3-24 months.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms.Cambria Laine herself to get all the juicy details on how she came to be so fabulous! Please read on and maybe we'll let you in on her giveaway ;)

When did you first discover your creative talents?
I began sewing at the young age of 5 years old. My mother taught me to hand sew from scraps of her fabric and I self taught from there! As a young child I recall making elaborate hand sewn dresses for dolls using scraps. I never technically learned to sew from a pattern and still have trouble staying within the lines and following one! I alter everything. I learned more from experimenting with varying weights and sizes of fabrics and how to piece together, ruffle, fold, pin, tuck, and cut until the fabric was the shape I desired. I recently began working with leather and love it!

What made you open an Etsy Shop?
Economic times and job loss helped me decide to open an etsy shop. With a large family full of growing children and a non-existent grocery budget I had to do something.. Over the years friends and family members would comment on my projects, saying how they loved what I made. Then one day when I posted a photograph of an item I made for my child on facebook, a comment from an old high school friend insisting I should sell on etsy started it all. I clicked onto the etsy site and my adventure started from there! I can’t believe (embarrassedly) that I had never shopped or visited the site before!

What items do you make? I currently make leather soft soled shoes, a few leather hair clips, and hand stamp silverware and vintage pieces.

I started off by making the things I want for myself or my own children that I couldn’t find. My garden markers were a fun whimsical way to get the kids involved in gardening, and were functional as well as beautiful! After having sons, I was thrilled to have a daughter! From the day my daughter came home from the hospital I longed to dress up her tiny toes with pretty shoes, but her feet weren’t square and nothing store bought would fit. So I started making my own!

I sew, knit, bead, paint, sculpt with clay and other things...I pretty much dabble in just about any craft I find interesting.

Hand Stamped "Garden marker" Silverware

What's your favorite item to make?
My favorite items are ones that can be used on a daily basis. I love the durability of a quality handmade item. I like things to be worn, loved and not sit on a shelf for fear of breaking. I’d like to tell people that I would rather see my handmade item worn and loved (but please don’t abuse it!) than tucked away in a closet and forgotten. All the time and love that goes into making each piece is a part of the heart and soul of a handmade item. Wrap yourself & those you treasure in love & either make or buy handmade!

Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?
My shop will change and evolve with the seasons, as well as customer requests/styles. I like to think of my business as ever changing. I look forward to continuing to make shoes, and hope to expand to more unique items and accessories in the future. Maybe even something for the boys! ;)

Diamond Sterling Silver Child's Bracelet

What inspires you to keep going and how do you keep yourself motivated?
As cliche as is may sound, my family inspires me. My children’s tastes, interests, and activities as well as their unique personalities give me ideas to create and share. I am a mom of many, so I have to be motivated! My life is never slow or dull, it is very full and busy, so giving myself deadlines helps keep me stay on top of things.

How do you promote your business?
I have a very different view on business and promotion than most. While advertising has it’s place, I find word of mouth to be the most effective so far. I strive to make quality items, and that I feel that satisfaction with what I create is what propels people to recommend my shop to others. I see this as an ever changing and evolving work in progress as well.

Cambria Laine recently hit their goal of 200 fans on Facebook (Way to go!). Fall Accessories- Headpieces With An Autumn Flair

Well, it’s official, fall is here! It is a little harder for to distinguish the seasons here in SoCal, but we had one crazy day of rain and BAM the temperature dropped! Back on Long Island (where I was born & spent most of my life) fall brought not only a drop in temperature but the gorgeous changing leaves.

Our fall line has been well underway for about a month now but hey, its never too late to write about it! I am always inspired at odd times and this sudden realization that it REALLY IS FALL has just hit me =) All items in our 2011 fall collection are handmade with inspiration from those beautiful changing leaves that I miss so much!

The Autumn Rosette Headband is designed with my favorite harvest colors. The simple gorgeous trio is then finished with just a bit of bling in the center for a little sparkle.

Our Victorian Headband is a classic vintage inspired piece. 100% hand crafted. Each detail from the ruffled lace to the tiny leaves on the cranberry colored rosette is skillfully crafted.

These are just a few of the designs created so far. Be sure to “LIKE” our facebook page to view more fall designs.

The New Facebook- Get your News Feed To Show What YOU want to see

The new redesign of Facebook has gotten a lot of heat since its arrival. The changes are supposed to help filter news and updates to post what it thinks you would like to see at the top. So far this has been a bust for many people I've spoken to. I noticed that SO MANY of my favorite business/ community pages had just plain disappeared. I was only able to see them by going directly to their page. To me that is inconvenient! I liked the idea of just scrolling down the news feed "liking" and commenting as I went through it all.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon an article posted by one of my favorite pages Paint The Moon Photography. Annie was kind enough to break down the new "List" features into screen shots to make finding my favorites easy again. The tutorial titled, "Keeping Up With The New Facebook", was a wealth of information and super easy to follow.

My only gripe about this method is that with the created lists, you STILL have to click on each list to see the pages or friends you added to it. I don't know about everyone else, but I really like to have it all in my main News feed. Well, I figured out a technique while playing with the new lists that will allow just that to be done. Here is my addition to Annie's Tutorial.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help!

Esty Kids Team Interview- kyandkin

My most recent connection in the EtsyKids Team brought me to find kyandkin. The owner Heather knows how important it is for children's clothing to be free flowing & comfortable. She keeps that in mind with each of her designs. Please read on to learn more about this talented shop owner and her designs.

Please give us a brief bio, where you are from and how you started crafting?
I started kyandkin with the inspiration from my 2 beautiful daughters, Kylie Rainn and Kinley River.  I am a military wife of an amazing husband who serves as a Riverine in the Navy.  My family is absolutely everything to me and they have inspired me to start something that would last forever, something small...growing into something big...

When did you first discover your creative talents?
I had sewn for years, and had started with selling handbags to friends and family a few years ago…but I knew that there was something else that I was even more interested in but just couldn't put my finger on it…until I had my second little girl.  I had finally found something that I LOVE to put my time and effort into, something that I just can’t get enough of.

What made you open an Etsy Shop?
For the ability to stay home with my beautiful girls, be able to do what I love and create the clothes and the freedom to play anytime with my girls as well.

Baby Teether
What items do you make?
I make children’s clothing, primarily little girls, but some are unisex and some are baby items

What's your favorite item to make?
Dresses are my favorite item to make, they make my daughter so happy whenever we create a new one, she says she feels like a princess

girls dress - autumn floral

Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?
Hopefully with a bunch of repeat customers and non-stop.  I’m always on the go and LOVE IT, it would be a dream to only depend on kyandkin.

What inspires you to keep going and how do you keep yourself motivated?
Definitely my 2 beautiful girls, they’re the reason for everything….their smiles in the morning and throughout the day, the laughter, the imaginations…it just doesn't get any better.

How do you promote your business?
I promote through my Facebook, Etsy teams that I am a member of and through blogs, which have all helped me grow so much.

Lastly, any words of advice for aspiring designers/artists/crafters?
Focus, focus, focus, just keep going. Things will all line up in the end and when they do it’s amazing.

Adorable Twins Wearing Matching Sets~ Bow Ties & Headbands

I know I’ve already written a post about the release of our sibling sets, but they are so cute that I had to do an update post! I recently received some photos from a customer with her boy/girl twins wearing our handmade tangerine matching sibling accessories.

Their gorgeous mocha skin tone was a perfect match for the orange hues in this particular set. Mr. Cayden & Ms. Chloe totally rocked the shoot! Super cute and squishy, the perfect models for this set.

Special Thanks To Photos from the Heart for the beautiful shot!

Sneak Peek- Hand Made Suspenders & Bunting Banners

It is always exciting when I am able to release new items for the shop! This month I have TWO new products to share with you all. First a little back ground of what inspired me to make them.

A Pretty Baby customer recently contacted me about creating something special for her son A’s second birthday. She informed me that they will be doing a cake smash and wanted some fun props to use with it. My first suggestion was our Birthday Boy Bow Tie. This tie has become one of most popular boy items because of the unique keepsake cupcake attachment. Some feedback I have gotten is:

“I LOVE how the bow tie can be used with OR without the cupcake! Now {J} can use his bow tie any day.” – L.R. Floral Park, NY

We then spoke about some items I didn’t already have available. We tossed around the idea of fabric bunting banners. We decided that it would be a great idea because I could match one panel to the bow tie.

$25-$40 depending on size and style.
Our banners will always be made of quilt shop quality fabrics. They will range from 6'-7'. The small will have 5 panels and the Large will have 6. You will have a choice of 2 or 3 fabrics as well as a choice of triangle or scalloped panels.

Some other features I hope to incorporate in our design are the ability to make the bunting multi gendered. I want the user to be able to get as much use out of the banner as possible. I would make one side girl friendly and the other side boy friendly. I also hope to make some that are catered toward not only birthdays, but holidays and even the seasons!

As with all of our products, the banners will be fully customizable. We can make them smaller or larger based on your needs and can even add appliqu├ęs and letters to the panels!

A’s mom was also in search of suspenders for her little guy. At the mention of them, I knew I just HAD TO take on this project. Imagine the Cuteness! Attached to a diaper cover with a matching bow tie, EEEK!

$18-$20 based on size and style.
Boy’s suspenders will be custom tailored to fit your trendy tike just right.  As with our banners and bow ties, only the finest quality fabrics will be used. To go along with our high standard for materials, we will always use premium clips and sliders. You will be able to choose from any of our existing bow tie fabrics or contact us with your color needs and we will be happy to customize (even for your girls). **Don’t forget the matching bow tie! **

Bow Tie/ Suspender Sets $24-$26

Where to find Reviews for Pretty Baby Accessories

I decided to disable to review tab on our Facebook page for a couple of reasons. First being that anyone, even if they have not done business with me, is able to leave a review. Second being, that if there is someone posting spam or bogus information to my review tab, I am not able to delete it. I actually have to submit a ticket to Facebook and cross my fingers that I get a response, which is not likely.

Consequently, I’m sure you are wondering where to find reviews for Pretty Baby Accessories. Here are a few places that you may:

1.       Our Etsy Shop – Here you may read reviews from our Etsy Customers. You are not able to leave a review if you have not purchased from our shop.

2.       Merchant Circle- Here you will be able to read AND write reviews for “PBA”.

I hope you find this a helpful resource when researching Pretty Baby Accessories. If you have already done business with us, or received any of our products as a gift, I invite you to leave a review at any or all of these venues. Your feedback is always appreciated!

Versatility- Hair Clips, Headbands, & Non Slip Grips

Here at Pretty Baby Accessories, we strive for customer satisfaction and as our mission states, “Our goal is to create the perfect hand made accessories with your needs/wants in mind”.  Recently, we’ve had many inquiries about the versatility of our headband collection. Some of your Pretty Babies prefer a hair clip or just won’t keep the headband on.

So to stay true to our goal, YES! We do offer the choice of putting our creations on an alligator clip, French clip, hair comb, or headband. In fact, many of our headbands can even be made interchangeable so that you may use any of our designs with a headband one day and as a fascinator the next!
For those girls with fine hair, we also offer a non slip grip to be added to your clippie at no additional charge! Just be sure to let us know your princess has fine hair and we will add one for you.

From here on out, our newborn headbands will come standard attached to the band. For older children, who will most likely have more hair, we will offer the option to have an interchangeable headband with the design on clip and a non slip grip by request.

We want our customers to be 100% satisfied, so all suggestions will be reviewed and applied where possible. Do you have a suggestion for us? Please click the contact tab at the top of this blog and send us a message.
